Women harvesting and sorting saffron in Taliouine, Morocco during the seasonal saffron harvest

Saffron Harvest &

Cultural Festivals

October Tour

This is a rare opportunity to experience three of Morocco’s cultural highlights in a single journey, moments that do not typically align in one trip.

  • Traveling in late October, the journey begins in Marrakech during the International Festival of World Folklore, as parades, music, and dance performances move through the streets and into the heart of the city.

  • Along the way, you travel across the Atlas Mountains with an overnight stop in the historic fortified village of Ait-BenHaddou that once sat along caravan routes and is now known for its striking architecture and cinematic presence.

  • You’ll continue to the saffron region of Taliouine, where you learn how this prized ingredient is cultivated and used.

  • We will then go to the coastal city of Essaouira during the Atlantic Andalucía Festival, where music reflects centuries of shared history between Jewish, Muslim, and Spanish communities.

During this one-of-a-kind trip, you’ll experience three distinct sides of Morocco: the energy of Marrakech, the rural rhythm of Taliouine, and the coastal atmosphere of Essaouira. Your guided medina (old town) tours will take you through important cultural sites, landmarks and historic neighborhoods, with time to explore at your own pace as well. Regional cuisine is woven throughout, from simple meals to dishes that reflect the traditions of each place.

Together, these moments connect the journey’s festivals and harvest with the landscapes, architecture, and cultural heritage that shape them, creating a thoughtfully timed experience that is rarely possible in a single trip.
